Rainbow Bridge

You no longer greet me as I walk through the door. You're not there to make me smile, to make me laugh anymore. Life seems quiet without you, you were far more than a pet. You were a family member, a friend . . . a loving soul I'll never forget. It will take time to heal - for the silence to go away. I still listen for you, and miss you every day. You were such a great companion, constant, loyal and true. My heart will always wear, the pawprints left by you.

Anubis

2005 - 2017

Anubis Photo

Anubis' prevous owner writes: Anubis was born on May 22, 2005 and my children and I have had her since August of 2005. She loves to run and take walks. She is vocal when she wants something, but is not a howler/barker. She is highly intelligent, but if she doesn't feel like sitting when you tell her to, she will let you know. In 2013 we found out that Anubis was diabetic and would need insulin injections twice a day. She is AMAZING when she gets her injections. We give her half a can of wet food with each injection to make sure she has something in her system and doesn't go into shock. Anubis has been raised with my children (they were 5 and 9 when we brought her home), our cats, and a Golden Retriever.

Sapphire

2010 - 2017

Sapphire Photo

Many of you knew Sapphire, because she was involved in your life or in our community. She loved giving roe's, kisses, and being the sassy princess that she was. Sapphire came to Forever Husky with kidney disease in Oct of 2016 where she was given 3 months to live. It was a struggle for her to get as healthy as one could get with kidney disease. Over the course of 2-3 weeks, Sapphire's kidney's slowly started to shutdown until they could no longer function at all. We will always love and miss you forever.

Angel

2003 - 2016

Angel Photo

We welcomed Angel into our life first as a foster dog. And it was suppose to be temporary until she found a forever home. On the day the family was suppose to meet her we realized that it was going to work out for them and that she was already with her forever family. She was a senior dog and we were glad that she got to live out her last few months with us. She was spoiled going to the doggy spa, getting yummy treats, long walks throughout the forest preserve, and having a comfy place to take naps. She learned to maneuver throughout the house in-spite of being mostly blind and deaf. She loved laying under the the coffee table in the living room. She like most huskies would spend all day outside if she could especially in winter. As soon as she would come in she would want to go right back outside. She was so even tempered around us and would come up for cuddles every once in awhile too. She was such a sweet heart and we were always happy to come home to her.

Dexter

2003 - 2015

Dexter Photo

Dexter came to Forever Husky after a prolonged incarceration due to being “evidence” in an animal abuse and neglect case in Kentucky. He had advanced heart worm disease, full of flea bites and malnourished. Dexter was approximately 15 yrs old when he came to us and his rough life had also taken a toll on his body. He had significant arthritis and was deaf but despite all of these things he had a strong will to live and fought a good fight for 4 months. During that time he underwent heart worm treatment and put on some weight. He loved to go outside and walk with his foster brother and sister and spend his days sleeping on a comfy bed in the sun, far more comfortable than the concrete he had known most of his life. Sadly, Dexter’s body was not strong enough to carry him through but we know that he was happy for the first time in his life and died surrounded by people who loved and cared about him. RIP sweet boy!

Malo

2011 - 2015

Malo Photo

REMEMBER On January 13, 2015, at 8pm – Sweet and Gentle Malo has crossed over to the Rainbow Bridge at the age of 4.5 and will be remembered by Jeri (our foster), all of you on Facebook that have been following him and of course the Forever Husky team. We can say that while he may have had a short life, he will be remembered and loved by each and every one of us who helped in fight to survive. A little about Malo. Malo was an owner surrender that was turned into Joliet Animal Control and was extremely sick and constantly vomiting. Forever Husky was asked if we were willing to pull him, which we did, and transferred him to the ER Hospital at Companion Animal Specialty in Crystal Lake. Upon investigation of his blood work, Malo’s prognosis was that he was in Kidney failure. After much discussion with the vet and specialists we determined that his kidney’s never grew as a puppy to adult size and there was nothing that we could do. So where did Malo come from? Malo is the product of another Puppy Mill (Oleo Acres Kennels, Inc. out of Iowa) and was than later sold to Joe’s Pet Salon in Chicago Illinois. We can thank the lawmakers of Chicago and Cook County for finally banning the sale of puppy mill dogs, but just a little to late for Malo. We hope that you find this information valuable on what really happens to some of these poor dogs that come from these puppy mills.

Keoni

2002 - 2014

Keoni Photo

Hey there, my name is Keoni. I was stuck in a shelter out in California and was saved by Forever Husky from a lonely death. I had some medical issues in the beginning from being a stray and it's been determined that I have a immune deficiency with-in my red blood cells. My foster also recently decided that since I work so well in her pack that I would become a foster failure. I visit the vet quite often for check-ups and to ensure that my immune system doesn't get to out of wack. I can't thank her enough for understanding how lonely I have been and to ensure that my diet stays consistent. She also does well at recognizing if I have any new issues that the vet helps with any treatment that might be needed.

Izzy (Sable Puppy)

2013 - 2014

Izzy (Sable Puppy) Photo

Izzy, Boomer, Willow, Leia, and Skylor are the newest additions to Forever Huskies growing family! Their mother, Sable, was taken into our care a few short weeks before she gave birth and everybody is doing great! Their interests include howling at passing sirens, chewing on each other, climbing over each other, hanging out in laundry baskets, and making foster mom Kim laugh at their antics. The puppies are a mixed breed (we have been unable to determine what the mix is so far) but with puppies this cute it’s easy to get distracted. All five plus mom Sable will be available for adoption starting November 1st.
